Faustina Melody Tietaah

CEO/Team Leader

Faustina Melody Tietaah is a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology where she obtained an Executive Masters degree in Business Administration, and of the University for Development Studies, where she obtained a B.A. (Hons) degree in Integrated Development Studies. She has a lot of passion for developmental work and has spent nearly all of her working life facilitating responsive, human development, initiatives in deprived communities. She worked with World Vision Ghana, as a programme officer and an Area Development Programme (ADP) manager in the Tolon and Kumbungu districts from October 2000 to December 2015. Her engagement with World Vision has deepened her skills in women and youth empowerment, gender and advocacy issues (Citizen Voice and Action), accountability issues, programme design and management among others. It has also improved her skills in working with CBOs, local NGOs and decentralized departments/partners in programme planning and implementation. Her passion for women’s empowerment flows from a confluence of choice and chance: from her own life experiences (which have shaped her values), through her education and training (which have sharpened her perspectives) to her workplace encounters (which define and motivate her engagements). She has demonstrated these attributes in both attitude and action. She has encountered and engaged with the systemic social and cultural challenges that young women face; and the life-transforming difference that economic enablement and entrepreneurial empowerment make. Her work in women and youth empowerment initiatives has been inspired by these experiences and has informed her commitment towards helping to unlock the potentials of young women, who often are constrained only by their milieus. Faustina currently runs a start-up enterprise that provides skills development and personal livelihood opportunities to young females within Tamale and surrounding communities. Through this initiative, more than 25 youths have, so far, received skills and entrepreneurial opportunities in textile hand weaving.
